iQ Pod System Review: Which iQ Vape Is Right for You?

It’s fair to say that pod systems have revolutionized the vaping industry over the past few years. Pod systems are incredibly stylish. Unlike the small vaping devices of the past, they make no attempt to look like tobacco cigarettes. They’re simple enough for complete beginners to use. Paired with modern nicotine salt e-liquids, pod systems can deliver nicotine almost as efficiently as tobacco cigarettes – and that makes them ideal for people who have just switched from smoking to vaping. Along with the obvious appeal for new vapers, though, pod systems have also proven very successful among the existing vaping community.

Whether you’re a new or long-term vaper, there’s no doubt that iQ vaping devices have caught your eye when you’ve shopped around for a new pod vaping system. These devices – manufactured by Hangsen, one of the world’s oldest e-liquid manufacturers – are designed with the same kind of confident minimalism that companies such as Apple have made famous. They’re wonderful vaping devices, and they draw eyes for all the right reasons. You’re curious about them, and you’re not the only one.

You’ve probably surmised that there’s more to iQ pod vape devices than their outward appearance – and you’re right. Although you certainly could just buy the device that looks most attractive to you and be done with it, there are actually subtle differences between the devices that are worth knowing before you buy. So, which iQ vaping system is right for you? Let’s dig in.

Getting Started: What’s a Pod Vaping System?

If you don’t own a pod vaping system already, it’s worthwhile to understand what pod vaping systems are and who they’re designed for. The pod systems that we sell here at True North Vapor are refillable, which means that you’ll use them with the bottled e-liquids of your choice. A pod system differs from a vaping device with a traditional tank, though, in that you’ll dispose of the entire pod when its flavor or vapor production no longer meets your expectations. When you use a vaping device with a tank, you keep the tank and dispose of only the atomizer coil.

Compared to vaping devices with traditional tanks, people generally find pod vaping systems much easier to use and much more resistant to leaking. Pod systems are also smaller and far more pocket friendly.

When you use a pod vaping system, you’ll inhale the vapor from your mouth to your lungs as if you were smoking a cigarette. The vapor production of a pod system is consistent and reliable, but the vapor clouds are not enormous. You’ll use a pod vaping system in conjunction with a high-nicotine e-liquid. The most popular nicotine strengths for pod systems are 25 and 50 mg.

iQ Mini Pod System

  • Battery Life: 240 mAh
  • Pod Capacity: 2 ml
  • Coil Resistance: 1.5 ohm
  • Maximum Power: 7 watts
  • Price: $24.99

Do you think that mainstream vaping devices like the JUUL are small? They’ve got nothing on the iQ Mini, which must be one of the smallest devices on the planet. Bearing a strong resemblance to an iPod Shuffle, the iQ Mini is small enough that you could probably use it just about anywhere without anyone realizing what you’re doing. Your hand can wrap easily around the device, and it’s so small that it doesn’t even require a mouthpiece. Just place your mouth over the hole at the top of the iQ Mini and inhale!

With a maximum output of 7 watts, the iQ Mini does produce slightly smaller vapor clouds than the other members of the iQ pod vape lineup. If you’re using a nicotine salt e-liquid with a strength of 50 mg, though, you’re not going to care about that. Buy this device if discreet vaping is of the utmost importance to you. While the 240 mAh battery may not last through a full day of constant use, it’s still more battery life than you’ll get with the JUUL – and it charges in just 30 minutes from any USB port.

iQ OVS Pod System

  • Battery Life: 600 mAh
  • Pod Capacity: 2 ml
  • Coil Resistance: 1.2 ohm
  • Maximum Power: 9 watts
  • Price: $39.99
  • Buy Now

Although the iQ OVS has a price that puts it in the middle of the iQ pod vaping spectrum, this is actually the device that has the most battery life in the entire iQ pod vaping series. With a battery capacity of 600 mAh, you should not have to worry about this device lasting through the entire work day. The battery life is roughly the equivalent of three fully charged JUUL batteries. In terms of vapor production, the iQ OVS and iQ 3Secs are roughly equal if both batteries are full. Since the iQ OVS has a higher-capacity battery, though, it’ll give you maximum vapor production for a longer period of time. Like all iQ pod vaping devices, the iQ OVS charges in about a half hour. It also works while charging. Buy this one if you don’t mind using a slightly larger vaping device in exchange for enjoying superior battery life and vapor production.

iQ 3Secs Pod System

  • Battery Life: 400 mAh
  • Pod Capacity: 2 ml
  • Coil Resistance: 1.5 ohm
  • Maximum Power: 9 watts
  • Price: $49.99
  • Buy Now

The newest and most advanced member of the iQ pod vaping ecosystem, the iQ 3Secs is right in the middle in terms of battery life and produces top-quality vapor clouds with a fully charged battery. People find that the glossy exterior of the iQ 3Secs is reminiscent of the iPhone’s design, and this is a vaping device that never fails to turn heads. This device features an advanced display that automatically counts your puffs and shows you the remaining battery charge.

The iQ 3Secs is much smaller in person than it appears in the pictures. It is slightly longer – but much narrower – than the iQ OVS. Thanks to the narrow size and smooth, glossy surface, this is a device that’s extremely easy to slide into a pocket when you’re not using it.
