In this series, I've had varying reasons to focus on certain companies we work with. Sometimes the people behind the product fascinate me or the reason they created the company is of interest.
Some time around the end of last summer to early fall, I had the pleasure of chatting with Zac Belcher from Big Bottle Co. Zac is one of the pioneers of this industry who just simply 'gets it'. Many business owners that create products for the public often run the mistake of bringing a product to market that they want to see the public buy, and then try to build a business from that. Don't get me wrong, that methodology can work, but it's nowhere near as powerful as what Zac did.
In a time where everyone and their cousin called themselves "mixologists" that produced product in their bathtub (ok, maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but only a little bit), we saw bottles on the market primarily in 30mL formats with labels that had been hand-written on. There was no industry standard at the time and no real professional attempt from the majority of flavour crafters on the market.
Enter Zac, where his goal was to produce not only a quality made product but also in a large bottle with a professional label to help set the bar in our industry. Not only did he do that, but he made it affordable as well. His customers were complaining that they were going through a 30mL bottle each day and the cost to vape wasn't much better than smoking. In short, instead of trying to create a product with a need, he found a need and created a product to suit it.
