Why Sub-Ohmers Are “Downgrading” to Pod Vaping Systems

If you’ve been vaping for more than a year or two, it’s likely that you moved on from your original vape pen or e-cigarette and began using a larger mod long ago. The smaller your original vaping device was, the less satisfying you probably found it. It might have been satisfying enough to help you switch from smoking to vaping, but it didn’t have the vapor production or depth of flavor to make you truly happy. When you switched to a larger device, you finally got the performance that you needed to be completely satisfied with your vaping experience. The switch to a larger device introduced some new problems, though, so you’re still on the hunt for vaping perfection. Why is that?

The Problems With Larger Vaping Devices

One of the challenges of vaping is that upgrading one aspect of your vaping experience often results in a downgrade to some other aspect of your experience. Your only choice, then, is to decide what aspects of vaping are most important to you and find the hardware and e-liquid that best satisfy your requirements. Using a powerful vaping device means that you enjoy the biggest possible vapor clouds. That’s great for flavor, and it’s also great for your satisfaction level when you use a low-nicotine e-liquid. When you use a device that produces big vapor clouds, though, you deal with two problems.

  • If you use sweetened e-liquid, you’ll deal constantly with coil gunk. The bigger your vapor clouds are, the more e-liquid you’ll consume – and the more e-liquid you use, the faster your coils will degrade from sucralose residue.
  • Using a larger vaping device can be expensive because you’ll need a constant supply of e-liquid and fresh coils.

If you use a powerful vaping device and a tank with pre-built coils – and you enjoy sweetened e-liquid – you may find that you need to replace your coil every day. As expensive as today’s high-end coils are, that can make vaping nearly as expensive as smoking. That’s certainly not what you had in mind when you switched to vaping!

What Are Pod Vaping Systems?

If you’ve been vaping long enough, you probably remember the cigarette-shaped “cigalikes” that companies used to market to beginning vapers. A cigalike with twist-on cartridges seldom produced a satisfying amount of vapor – and to make matters worse, the e-liquid in a pack of cartridges would often be stale by the time the pack reached you from the factory. If you were a cigalike user back in the day, your first order of business would have been to upgrade to a more reliable vaping device as quickly as possible.

Pod vaping systems represent the latest generation of small, simple devices geared toward beginning vapers. Instead of storing their e-liquid in the gauze-filled cartridges common in the age of the cigalike, pod vaping systems use hollow plastic pods filled with e-liquid. Some pod systems use pre-filled disposable pods, and others use refillable pods that work with any bottled e-liquid.

Compared to cigalikes, pod vaping systems offer far better battery life and much more consistent vapor production. Beginners love pod systems with pre-filled pods because they’re just as easy to use as the cigalikes of old. In terms of vapor volume, battery life and e-liquid capacity, though, there’s simply no comparison between pod systems and cigalikes. Pod systems are better in every way, and they’re only slightly bigger than cigalikes.

In the beginners’ segment of the vaping industry, pod systems have been truly revolutionary. In the United States, for example, the JUUL pod system has captured more than 70 percent of the vaping market in traditional brick-and-mortar sales outlets.

While pod systems are undeniably perfect for beginners, the advent of the pod vaping system has also triggered a major change in the vaping industry that no one could have predicted: experienced vapers around the world have elected to switch from more powerful vaping devices to tiny pod systems. Should you do the same? Let’s examine the reasons for that trend and find out whether a pod vaping system might be the right choice for you.

Why Are So Many Vapers Switching to Pod Vaping Systems?

So far, you’ve learned that pod vaping systems offer increased battery life, e-liquid storage and vapor production – but that’s in comparison to cigalikes. A pod system is inferior to a large vape mod in all of those areas. So, what’s causing so many vapers to make the switch?

If you’re like most vapers, you probably started using a larger mod because the device that you purchased when you started vaping didn’t satisfy you. If you used a low-nicotine e-liquid, you found the vapor smooth and easy to inhale, but you didn’t get real satisfaction out of the experience because your vaping setup didn’t deliver nicotine to your body efficiently enough. If you used a high-nicotine e-liquid, you found the vapor too harsh to inhale. So, you switched to a device that produced enough vapor to make a low-nicotine e-liquid satisfying.

Do you enjoy the fact that your larger vaping device makes discreet vaping impossible due to the enormous vapor clouds that you exhale? Do you enjoy spending a fortune to vape because you need a bottle of e-liquid and a box of replacement coils every few days? If you answered “no” to those questions, it’s likely that you only started using a larger vaping device because you couldn’t find anything else that satisfied you. If you could get the same level of satisfaction from a smaller device, would you switch?

Pod vaping systems are far more satisfying than the cigalikes of old, and that’s because they utilize a new e-liquid technology called nicotine salt. This e-liquid uses a salt-based form of nicotine that’s smooth and easy to inhale even at nicotine strengths up to 50 mg. With its very high nicotine strengths, nicotine salt e-liquid delivers nicotine to the body with incredible efficiency – it’s almost the same as smoking a cigarette. Nicotine salt is so powerful, in fact, that we recommend starting with a lower nicotine strength such as 25 mg if you already vape. You don’t need a cigarette-like experience if you’re already a full-time vaper.

Is a Pod Vaping System Right for You?

Reading this article, you’ve learned that pod vaping systems can offer the utmost in satisfaction without burning your coils out, wasting your e-liquid supply or creating vapor clouds large enough to alter weather systems. Does that mean you should switch to a pod system yourself? That depends. Nothing can beat a large mod with a tank when it comes to pure, focused flavors and incredible vapor production. For many people, though, those aspects of the vaping experience are secondary to the satisfaction derived from the nicotine. If that’s the case for you, it’s likely that you will love owning a pod vaping system.
